Plan your transport
Clarify which number should be visible on the outside of the package and who confirms it is correct. Your internal list may combine several IDs, such as the manufacturer’s serial number and your own inventory number; only the allocation needed for the process is passed on. For exchange devices, this structure tracks original and replacement as two separate items throughout the process.
From rating plate to package label
The serial number is on the device, but after packing only the package is visible. That is why the link between the two belongs on an external label and in the packing list: package 2/4 – serial number XY – inventory number Z. Collection, transport and recipient all use the same list.
Documented handover
At handover, the recipient checks the packages against the list and confirms receipt. Discrepancies, such as a missing package or visible damage to the packaging, are noted directly at handover. This makes it traceable for everyone involved which unit was handed over to whom and when.
What matters
- Link the individual ID to the package reference
- Have the person responsible for the device confirm accuracy
- Keep original and replacement as separate lines in the list
