If the handover falls during a shift change, the new shift often does not know that a high-value shipment is expected – and the goods wait at the gate. With a short shift note and a named backup contact, you make sure every shift recognises the shipment. We align delivery with the agreed window and these contacts.

A shift note contains: shipment reference, expected packages, handover point and time window, outgoing and incoming shift, a reachable backup contact and any open releases. The incoming shift confirms internally that the information has been received. If the delivery date changes, the named contact updates the note for both teams.

The shift that the recipient names for the agreed time window. The shift note lists the main and backup contact. If no one is reachable on site, we first speak to the named site manager before the handover point or process is changed.
