A surface roughness tester may travel as a portable instrument or as an assembly with a drive unit and fixture. Describe the version and its condition at collection. Fine styluses and loose reference pieces should be explicitly allocated within the package inventory.

Ask the responsible department which components the examination actually requires. An entire workstation does not automatically need to travel when only one instrument is being inspected. Separate the service request from the physical shipment: the workshop reference identifies the job, while the packing list records the contents. Discuss retention of the return packaging with the recipient before the outward journey where possible.

Must every reference piece travel with the tester?

The examining company determines this from the specific job. Obtain confirmation of the required scope and transfer that selection to the packing list. Unnecessary components can then remain on site, and receipt checks can follow the agreed contents.

Move gauge and reference sets between sites

Completeness is a planning issue in its own right for a gauge set. Numerous small elements form one valuable collection, potentially prepared in a dedicated box or insert. State the number of containers and their allocation instead of describing individual pieces simply as unspecified accessories.

Move small rework batches between plant and supplier

The quantity alone does not define a rework shipment. Parts may already be individually packaged, separated by machining status or allocated to different orders. Describe the actual batch and identify which units should travel together to the company performing the additional work.

Prepare collection release with a component supplier

Ordered goods are not automatically released for collection. Clarify which purchase order is prepared and who confirms its handover at the supplier. Where purchasing and dispatch have separate contacts, the transport enquiry should not rely solely on a commercial confirmation of the requested date.
