Plan your transport
Have the dispatching department confirm length, width and height in one consistent unit and give each package a reference. If a crate is still being built, mark the values as provisional and state when the final dimensions will be available. A photo supports the description but does not replace measurements. Send later changes together with the package reference – we then check whether vehicle and handling equipment still fit.
Typical differences between device and package
A wooden crate often adds several centimetres per side, a pallet increases total height, and handles and skids lengthen the package. Devices on castors also need a transport lock. Even small differences decide whether a package fits through a door, onto a tail lift or next to a second item.
How to measure correctly
Measure at the widest point of the finished package, including all overhangs, in centimetres. Also note whether the package is stackable and where the centre of gravity is, if known. A simple table with reference, L × W × H and weight is enough for planning.
What matters
- Measure outer dimensions after packing is complete
- Always include the unit of measurement and package reference
- Mark provisional crate dimensions explicitly
